Chargers’ Antonio Gates scores modern pad in Hollywood Hills West
Antonio Gates, the Pro Bowl tight end for the San Diego Chargers, has purchased a home in Hollywood Hills West for $1.66 million.
Featured on the Bravo reality series “Million Dollar Listing,” the 2000 contemporary residence includes a chef’s kitchen, living room, dining room, office, four bedrooms and three full bathrooms in 4,428 square feet of living space.
A modern wall fireplace, custom lighting, a gym/exercise room and master suite with steam shower are among the amenities. An elevator serves three floors.
Set off of the communal areas, a long entertainer’s patio centers on the surrounding canyon. A private inner patio contains a lounge area, pool and spa.
Gates, 34, has been one of the NFL’s premier tight ends for more than a decade, notching eight Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro nods in 11 seasons. He had 77 catches for 872 yards and four touchdowns for the Chargers last season.
Public records show that the home originally listed for sale in November 2013 at $1.795 million and last sold in 2008 for $1.4 million. In addition to the Hollywood Hills West property, the tight end owns a 6,800-square-foot home in Poway that he purchased in 2006 for $2.55 million.
Gene Bush of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. Johnny Miller of Keller Williams Beach Cities represented Gates in the sale.
