Dennis Quaid divorce back in play; wife files for separation

Share

Dennis Quaid’s wife, Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, has filed for legal separation, despite calling off divorce proceedings earlier this year.

A representative confirmed the separation to People magazine on Friday, asking that the couple’s privacy be respected as they split after eight years of marriage. The separation filing is a mere formality, sources told TMZ, with divorce coming as soon as possible down the line.

Kimberly filed for divorce in March but pulled the papers in late April as the two attempted to patch things up. They moved from Texas back to L.A. over the summer, complicating residency requirements.

The original Texas divorce filing, obtained by TMZ, stated, “The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities ... that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”

Now a source is telling the website that Buffington-Quaid is just “fed up.”

She is the “Vegas” actor’s third wife. They were married in July 2004 and have a twin son and daughter together. She’s reportedly seeking sole physical custody of the kids, with joint legal custody and visitation for dad.

Quaid has another son with second wife Meg Ryan.
