Laura Prepon: Tom Cruise dating rumors ‘false,’ ‘unbelievable’

Laura Prepon has something to say about those Tom Cruise dating rumors: They’re false, people.

The “Orange Is the New Black” star addressed the reports linking her to the A-lister head-on in a Monday interview with She Knows just ahead of the June 6 Season 2 premiere of the Netflix series.

The dating rumors were first reported in the fall by Grazia and resurfaced last week when Page Six said the actors were an item.

“It’s just so funny that, when people don’t know, they just make stuff up, [like] apparently I’m dating Tom Cruise right now. And apparently he doesn’t want me doing the show because I portray a lesbian and I’m a Scientologist,” the 34-year-old said.

“This is false; where are they even getting this stuff? It’s unbelievable to me.”

Reps for both camps shut down the rumors, but that didn’t make the stories go away. Prepon thinks it’s because of people’s fascination with the Church of Scientology and its high-profile members.

The “That ‘70s Show” alum also discussed her support for the LGBT community in the interview, saying that assuming Scientologists are anti-gay is a common misconception and that she is “a huge supporter” of the LGBT community, which comprises an “amazing fan base.”

“The thing that sucks is that there’s so much false data because people are in mystery as to what Scientology is, so they just kind of make up stuff. It’s kind of unfortunately because then I have to be like, ‘No, that’s actually not what’s happening.’”

The actress, who plays lesbian drug dealer Alex Vause in the Netflix series, said she won a GLAAD award for being a straight woman portraying a gay woman on camera. She’s slated to attend the 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York next month.
