Nicki Minaj talks Taylor Swift feud on ‘GMA’: ‘It’s over, you guys’

Nicki Minaj has ended her perceived Twitter spat with Taylor Swift by speaking over the phone, Minaj said Friday during an appearance on “Good Morning America.”

The PinkPrint rapper, whose kerfuffle with Swift over the MTV Video Music Award nominations dominated social media and entertainment news this week, elaborated on her remarks and agreed that the original spirit of her rant got lost in the shuffle.

The “Barber Shop 3” actress, 32, believed her viral, jungle-themed music video for “Anaconda” was snubbed and the oversight was part of the exclusionary practices of the music industry that she insisted perpetually overlooks contributions by black female artists.

“I posted something on my Instagram and it just showed the stats of other videos that had been nominated previously, and there just seemed to be a little funny business going on,” Minaj explained to Lara Spencer onstage during the ABC morning show.

“ ‘Anaconda’ had such a huge cultural impact and, on top of that, we broke the Vevo record [for a third time],” she said. “I do think if it was one of the pop girls, there would have many nominations for it.”

The video received two nominations but was excluded from the vaunted video of the year and choreography categories. The curvy emcee’s Tuesday tweets lambasted the glorification of slim bodies and women disrobing in music videos.

“I think that we just have to have both images for girls,” she said Friday. “We can’t have only one type of body being glorified in the media because it just makes girls even more insecure than we already are.”

Swift’s misstep in the fracas further fomented Minaj’s argument. The “Bad Blood” singer mistakenly entered the fray thinking that the rapper had been calling her out specifically, which launched the scope of her debate to an even wider audience. Swift apologized on Twitter for the misunderstanding on Thursday, and Minaj revealed that she and the musical darling spoke over the phone as well.

Since happy endings appear to be a theme for Swift, Minaj said she would be open to collaborating with the “Style” singer in the future.

“I’m sure we can,” Minaj said. “You know why, because it takes a big person to do what Taylor did. And everyone sometimes speaks out of turn, you know; I’ve been there. Sometimes we do things and we don’t think right away or we don’t investigate and we just talk, so it was big of her to come out and say that and so, yes, we spoke for a long time. We were cracking up laughing on the phone. It’s over, you guys.”
