Robert Downey Jr. rocks lederhosen for ‘Iron Man 3’ in Germany
Robert Downey Jr. opted for lederhosen rather than full-body armor — or a tux — at the “Iron Man 3” photo call in Germany on Friday.
The actor, who plays the superhero in the action film, appeared in Munich wearing the below-the-knee breeches partnered with a khaki blazer, button-down shirt and emerald-colored kerchief tied around his neck. He also sported some flashy green socks to pull the whole look together.
And his German pride was in uber-drive as he strutted his stuff on the red carpet during the premiere. He looked prepared to break out into a polka at any second.
The outfit may have been a tad kitschy, but it definitely made up for his wardrobe malfunction earlier this week in Seoul, when it looked in photographs as if his fly was down.
His costar Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays Pepper Potts in the film and recently sang Downey’s praises, wore a sleek white-and-black KaufmanFranco frock for the occasion.
The film, which also stars Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley, hits theaters on May 3.
