Courtney Love sued by ex-aide who alleges unpaid wages, unethical acts

Courtney Love’s former assistant is adding herself to the list of people who have taken legal action against the troubled rocker by filing a lawsuit claiming the singer failed to pay her monies due and made a number of unethical requests, including asking her to forge legal documents.

Jessica Labrie claims Love hired her in June 2010 as an assistant and “forensic research aide,” according to the wrongful termination, wage and breach of contract lawsuit she filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday.

In the lawsuit, Labrie says the Hole frontwoman promised her $30 an hour, “a ‘full ride’ scholarship to Yale University” and work on the set of an upcoming Nirvana biopic and work with her music management company.

Labrie claims that Love did not provide the promised college education and that she stiffed her for overtime and basic wages, despite having “often worked more than 60 hours per week.”

She also claims that Love wanted her to hire a computer hacker, send fake legal correspondence and do other unethical acts -- all of which Labrie refused.

Labrie seeks wages and expenses due, and punitive damages for wrongful firing, wage and overtime violations, false promise, breach of contract, negligent and intentional misrepresentation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Love’s publicist Steve Honig said in a statement Wednesday that “the allegations are completely unfounded and are being made with malice by a disgruntled former employee.”

As the fine folks at TMZ have pointed out, Labrie earlier this year was shopping around a tell-all about Love.

Tentively titled, “Get Me a Xanax,” the book promised to provide “an unprecedented glimpse into the daily life of the chaotic widow of Kurt Cobain, by an innocuous girl who had the extraordinary chance to witness it all” and expose Love’s romantic life and alleged substance abuse.
