Watch: Jenny Lewis jams with famous gal pals in ‘Just One of the Guys’
The song is called “Just One of the Guys” -- but the video is all about the ladies.
Two weeks before the release of her new solo album, Jenny Lewis on Tuesday posted a music video for the record’s lead single in which she jams with Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart and Brie Larson. The clip also features scenes with the women wearing facial hair and track suits, a look that Stewart in particular carries off with remarkable style.
Longtime Lewis fans aren’t likely to be surprised by the Hollywood cameos: Before she became a musician (initially as frontwoman of the beloved L.A. indie-rock band Rilo Kiley), Lewis was a child actor known for her roles in films like “Troop Beverly Hills” and “The Wizard.”
Due out July 29, “The Voyager” is Lewis’ first solo record since “Acid Tongue” in 2008 and contains songs she recorded with Beck (who produced “Just One of the Guys”) and Ryan Adams.
Stay tuned to Pop & Hiss in the coming weeks for a profile of the singer, who called “The Voyager” -- with tunes about love, celebrity and how she’s “just another lady without a baby” -- her most revealing album yet.
“Well, maybe,” she added. “It’s tough to say.”
