ABC’s ‘Lucky 7’ becomes first cancellation of fall season

Let the unlucky jokes commence. ABC’s lottery winner drama “Lucky 7’s” number is up and it has become the first show to be canceled from the new crop of fall shows.

The series, about a group of gas station employees whose winning lottery ticket brings them millions of dollars many more problems, aired just two episodes to catastrophically low numbers before getting the axe.

The show’s second episode got a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, down nearly half from its audience the week before. The premiere episode’s 1.3 rating in the same demo was ABC’s lowest rated fall drama premiere in its history.

According to an ABC representative, production details are still being worked out on the series, which was still in production when the cancellation decision was made.

The series was a remake of the British TV show “The Syndicate,” which has been successful in its home country. A third season of that show is expected in 2015.
