The world will have to wait a couple of months for photos of a pregnant Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, in maternity wear, but she’s giving her fashion admirers plenty to notice in chic winter garb while her baby bump grows. Before being hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness) earlier this week, the duchess had made a slew of public appearances in cozy coats, boots and long-sleeve dresses.

She looked poised in a cream Max Mara Belli coat and Aquatalia Rouge booties for a visit to Cambridge and brought back her green Mulberry dress and Jimmy Choo “cosmic” pumps for a new gallery opening at the Natural History Museum.

Part of what makes the duchess’ style so appealing is how she artfully weaves between high-end dresses by Burberry, Rouland Mouret and Issa on the red carpet and affordable high-street pieces by Zara and Reiss for other occasions. Her versatile, accessible style landed her a spot on Vanity Fair’s 2012 International Best-Dressed list -- her third mention.

On the last day of November -- just days before her hospitalization -- the duchess took to the field at her alma mater, Saint Andrew’s in Pangbourne, in her signature mix of high-low pieces in a McQ by Alexander McQueen navy and blue Black Watch pattern tartan coat, sheer tights and the Aquatalia by Marvin K “Rhumba” boot in black. She even grabbed a stick to play a little hockey, despite her heeled boots (and at that time secret pregnancy).

To get the duchess’ chic, winter wear look, try the Tommy Hilfiger plaid trench coat from Macys.com for $139.99 or the Hazel plaid coat from Piperlime.com for $110.50, and keep warm in the Calvin Klein hosiery tights from Bloomingdales.com for $15.

For a simple pair of black boots to wear all season, get the Via Spiga “Bethany” boot from Nordstrom.com for $198.98, or for a chunkier heel, the Jules suede chunky heel boot from Last Call by Neiman Marcus for $199.99.

We can’t all be royals, but we can definitely dress like one.

Happy shopping.
