Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair reveal rallies family support

Caitlyn Jenner has managed to out-do the mighty Kimye.

The former Olympian’s female identity made her official debut on Vanity Fair’s July cover and has a verified Twitter account with thousands of followers to boot.

Jenner, 65, announced in April the transition from male to female and promised that the next time the public would see Jenner, “he” would be “her” -- and that’s when the feminine pronoun would kick in.

“I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me,” Jenner tweeted Monday, following her splashy corset-clad cover-reveal.

That revelation lighted up social media on Monday with several Annie Leibovitz-shot photographs of Caitlyn being shared on Vanity Fair’s Twitter account. The news also came within hours of step-daughter Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West revealing that they were expecting their second child.

This family sure keeps trying to break the Internet ...

In a video accompanying the cover and teaser to Vanity Fair’s 22-page story, Jenner said that the days she shot the July cover were “better” than winning the gold medal in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics.

“That was a good day, but the last couple of days were better.... This shoot was about my life and who I am as a person. It’s not about the fanfare, it’s not about people cheering in the stadium, it’s not about going down the street and everybody giving you, ‘That a boy, Bruce,’ pat on the back, OK. This is about your life.”

Stepdaughter Khloe Kardashian was the first of the famous family to show her support on social media. The 30-year-old is said to have been the child who struggled most with Jenner’s transition; however, she posted words of support accompanied by the cover and one of Caitlyn’s quotes from the interview.

“We were given this life because you were strong enough to live it!” she wrote. “I couldn’t be prouder!!! Caitlyn, You are beautiful!!!”

Kim Kardashian, 34, who posted about her own Glamour magazine cover early on Monday, also shared Caitlyn’s cover photo.

“Caitlyn Jenner for Vanity Fair Annie Leibovitz! How beautiful! Be happy, be proud, live life YOUR way!” she wrote, imploring people to follow Caitlyn on Twitter.

Model Kendall Jenner, 19, who is Caitlyn’s daughter with ex-wife Kris Jenner, shared a clip from Caitlyn’s behind-the-scenes video.

“Now that’s a cover,” she wrote, adding “be free now pretty bird.”

Jenner has long lived her life out in public and has garnered attention in recent years for her affiliation with reality TV and the juggernaut spectacle that is “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Jenner revealed her latest milestone to Diane Sawyer during the April ABC interview, which she conducted as Bruce.

Jenner’s next public appearance will take place at the ESPY Awards, where she’ll receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, which has previously been given to Michael Sam, Robin Roberts and Pat Summitt. The show will be broadcast on ABC on July 15.
