Julianne Hough of ‘DWTS’ is engaged to NHL’s Brooks Laich

Julianne Hough is jumping with joy over her engagement to the NHL's Brooks Laich.

The "Dancing With the Stars" judge announced the news on Instagram Tuesday, posting a jubilant photo that features her in the arms of her new fiancé while admiring her new ring.

"We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiancé #love," the professional ballroom dancer wrote.

The news comes just a few weeks after Hough posted another snapshot with Laich that she captioned "I wanna grow old with you."

Hough, 27, and Laich, 32, who plays for the Washington Capitals, publicly debuted their relationship in February 2014. The hockey heartthrob said they met through his friend and Hough's "Curve" costar Teddy Sears, who formally introduced them during a wedding reception in December 2013.

The "Safe Haven" star previously dated "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest for about three years and was briefly linked to her "DWTS" Season 8 partner Chuck Wicks and director Ari Sandel.

"Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right," Hough said in the August 2014 issue of Redbook. "I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt. And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect. But now I'm not holding anything back, because I'd rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love. If I had been this open in my last relationship, who knows?"

She added that she and Laich have been "open and honest from day one."
