NHLer Martin Havlat skates into Boca Raton with $2.94-million purchase

Two-time NHL All-Star Martin Havlat, who hopes to earn a roster spot with the Florida Panthers for the coming season, has bought a house in Boca Raton, Fla., for $2.943 million.

Completed last year, the two-story home in the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club is located about 40 minutes northeast of the Panthers’ home, the BB&T Center.

About 5,000 square feet of open space features walnut wood floors, hand-painted doors, large formal spaces and a center-island kitchen. The first-floor master suite sports his and her closets, a soaking tub and a steam shower for a total of four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Outdoors, a covered patio with a wall fireplace opens to a swimming pool and spa. Elsewhere is a built-in barbecue and an outdoor shower.

Havlat, 34, spent last season with the New Jersey Devils, scoring 14 points in 40 games. The left-winger has compiled 243 goals and 593 points across 14 seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks and Devils.

Currently with the Panthers on a tryout basis, he is among seven candidates competing for “two or three forward jobs,” according to the Sun-Sentinel.

David Roberts of Royal Palm Properties was the listing agent. Victoria Audet of Century 21 City Real Estate represented the buyer in the sale, which closed in June.
