Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Mackenson, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Tuesday evening one mile from Mackenson, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:48 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was seven miles from Oakley, Calif., 10 miles from Antioch, Calif., 11 miles from Brentwood, Calif. and 34 miles from Sacramento, Calif.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
