Earthquake: Series of small quakes strikes reported near Hollister

A series of shallow earthquakes has been reported in the vicinity of Hollister, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The first, a magnitude 3.4 temblor, occurred Wednesday at 4:22 p.m. PST at a depth of 2.5 miles. It was followed by reports of a 3.3 quake at 12:54 a.m. at a depth of 4.3 miles, and a 3.2 quake at 3:39 a.m. at a similar depth.

Including the latest reports, there have been five earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby in the last 10 days.
