Students suffer minor injuries in Lancaster bus crash

A man was hospitalized and several students were injured Tuesday when a school bus collided with a car in Lancaster, causing the bus to roll and strike a utility pole, authorities said.

Authorities responded to the area of East Lancaster Boulevard and 20th Street East after receiving reports at 7:16 a.m. of a crash involving a school bus and a vehicle.

The bus, which was carrying eight special-needs students and two advisors, was traveling eastbound on East Lancaster Boulevard when it collided with a Cadillac traveling northbound on 20th Street East, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

The collision caused the bus to spin out of control, overturn and crash into a nearby utility pole, according to the CHP.

The driver of the Cadillac was taken to a hospital with major injuries, CHP officials said, and the students, the bus driver and the advisors sustained minor injuries,

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
