Opinion: Trump says he’s behind our surging economy. He needs to be more specific.

To the editor: President Trump was swept into office on the support of people who wanted him to be their champion and provide the leadership necessary to make our government more responsive to them. They want the president to build an even stronger and more vibrant America. (“Strong economy boosts Trump among otherwise skeptical voters,” Nov. 19)

Regarding Trump’s role in helping to strengthen the economy, I would like to know what kind of decisions were made before the president was inaugurated that set the stage for good economic growth. How much of the job growth resulted from the momentum prior to the Trump presidency?

I’d like to know what aspects of today’s economic growth can be specifically and solely attributed to Trump. It’s really tiring to keep hearing about all the successes with virtually no specifics to back up the rhetoric.

To the editor: Are you kidding? Trump came into office riding on a powerful economy thanks to all the years of President Obama pulling it out of the depths of a recession.

The continued run-up of the stock market is largely due to past and promised deregulation. Nobody loves deregulation like the financial, commodities and pharmaceutical industries do.
