Update: The Ducks’ overtime woes continued with a 3-2 defeat to the Washington Capitals on Saturday, and they remain winless in four such games (they’re 2-4 in contests that extend to a shootout). Hampus Lindholm returned after missing five games because of a concussion, but power forward Nick Ritchie missed his third straight game because of an upper-body injury. It’s the first meeting between the clubs since they completed a trade that involved forwards Adam Henrique and Joseph Blandisi, who joined the Ducks as defenseman Sami Vatanen was sent to New Jersey. Since then, Henrique has impressed with three goals and six points in eight games. Vatanen hasn’t scored a point in the same amount of games with New Jersey. The Devils are third in the Eastern Conference after winning the draft lottery and selecting Nico Hischier with the top pick. Top scorer Taylor Hall (31 points in 30 games) will return for the Devils after missing the past two games because of a knee contusion. So, too, will Kyle Palmieri, the former Ducks forward who has been sidelined for the past month because of a broken foot. Marcus Johansson also could return after missing three games because of an ankle injury. The Ducks continue their East Coast swing Tuesday with a game against the New York Rangers.
