NBA: Miami Heat top Detroit Pistons for seventh straight win

Goran Dragic scored 23 points Saturday night and the Miami Heat defeated the visiting Detriot Pistons, 116-103, to push the NBA’s longest current winning streak to seven games.

Wayne Ellington added 19 points, James Johnson had 18 and Dion Waiters scored 17 for the Heat, who tied a season high with 14 three-pointers, including three by Ellington in less than two minutes in the final quarter. Miami out- scored Detroit 26-12 in the fourth.

Miami was 11-30 at the midway point of its season, and hasn’t lost since — although it is still only tied for 13th in the Eastern Conference. Only Golden State, San Antonio and Houston have put together longer winning streaks this season than the Heat’s recent run.

The Heat outscored the Pistons 26-12 in the fourth quarter, holding them to 30% shooting. Reggie Jackson scored 24 points for Detroit, and Andre Drummond had 17 points and 20 rebounds.

Boston 112, at Milwaukee 108 (OT): Isaiah Thomas had 37 points, and Jae Crowder scored four of his 20 points on free throws in the final 28 seconds of overtime to help the Celtics win their third straight despite squandering a 16-point second-half lead and a 42-point first quarter, its best of the season. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 21 points for the Bucks, who have lost three in a row and eight of nine.

Memphis 102, at Utah 95: Zach Randolph scored a season-high 28 points off the bench, Mike Conley added 23, and the Grizzlies handed the Jazz their third loss in four games.

Sacramento 109, at Charlotte 106: DeMarcus Cousins had 35 points and 18 rebounds, and the Kings handed the Hornets their fourth straight loss. Kemba Walker had 20 of his 26 points in the third quarter for the Hornets.

at Minnesota 129, Brooklyn 109: Karl-Anthony Towns had 37 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to their seventh win in 10 games. Brook Lopez scored 25 for the Nets, who have lost five straight and 21 of their last 23 games.

Denver 123, at Phoenix 112: Danilo Gallinari scored a season-high 32 points, and the Nuggets erased a 12-point deficit after the first quarter to send the Suns to their third consecutive loss. Denver out- scored Phoenix 74-50 in the second and third quarters.
