Tim Tebow hits a home run on his first day with the St. Lucie Mets [Video]
Tim Tebow has done it again.
The football-star-turned-baseball-player hit a home run on his first day in a new league once again Wednesday, this time with the Advanced-A St. Lucie Mets.
Tebow was promoted from the Class A Columbia Fireflies on Sunday and had to wait an extra day for his debut with his new team because of a rainout earlier in the week.
In the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader, Tebow struck out and singled. Then, in his first at-bat of the second game, Tebow sent a 92-mph pitch from Palm Beach Cardinals right-hander Junior Fernandez over the center field wall for his fourth overall minor league home run.
“I felt good,” he said. “Honestly, I felt good the last couple of weeks in Columbia and tried to carry it over. Just put the bat on the ball and hit it hard.
“I was just thankful I could get one out tonight.”
Tebow went 2 for 3 in the second game, as his team split the doubleheader.
The former Heisman Trophy winner out of Florida and NFL star hit a home run on the very first pitch he faced as a professional baseball player, during an instructional league game in September. His first at-bat with the Fireflies in April also resulted in a home run.
