Boys’ basketball: Cassius Stanley leads Harvard-Westlake past Loyola in OT

Despite playing with a wrist injury, sophomore Cassius Stanley contributed 20 points on Friday night to help Harvard-Westlake defeat Loyola, 70-66, in overtime at Loyola.

Fans were turned away. The ones who got in saw another terrific Mission League game. Mason Hooks had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Johnny Juzang added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Harvard-Westlake (14-9, 6-2) is in second place in the Mission League.

Chaminade defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 70-62. Sophomore Dennis Flowers had 18 points. KJ Martin added 12 points and 10 rebounds. St. Francis defeated Crespi, 83-48. Lucas Shin made six threes and finished with 19 points.

In the Trinity League, Mater Dei (23-1, 7-0) stayed unbeaten with a 79-53 win over Servite. Spencer Freedman had 15 points and Bol Bol added 14. Santa Margarita defeated JSerra, 63-52, behind Jake Kyman’s 18 points. St. John Bosco defeated Orange Lutheran, 69-66. Makani Whiteside scored 22 points. Chris Williams had 33 for the Lancers.

KZ Okpala didn’t play but that didn’t prevent Esperanza from defeating El Modena, 74-39. Jared Obermeier had 14 points. Villa Park defeated Canyon, 87-80.

Westlake came away with a 46-43 win over Thousand Oaks. Drew Brackens scored 15 points. Camarillo defeated Simi Valley, 56-44. Jonah Cottrell had 18 points. Oak Park defeated Royal, 81-50. Riley Battin had 22 points and 15 rebounds. Clark Slajchert added 19 points.

Heritage Christian defeated Whittier Christian, 69-52. Village Christian defeated Valley Christian 60-53. Jordan Starr scored 24 points.

La Canada defeated San Marino, 58-41. Sean Estes had 18 points. Calabasas defeated Newbury Park, 67-44. Jack Roggin led the way with 18 points. Campbell Hall defeated Paraclete, 56-45. Mike Meadows had 19 points.

Wony’a Singleton scored 20 points in Peninsula’s 62-44 win over Mira Costa. Oaks Christian defeated Agoura, 53-49.

Redondo knocked off Morningside, 82-57. Ryse Williams finished with 26 points. Zekiah LoVett added 15 points. Highland defeated Palmdale, 84-47. Deshay Gipson had 24 points.

In the Baseline League, Chino Hills (22-0, 6-0) defeated Damien, 124-102. LiAngelo Ball had 52 points. Etiwanda defeated Los Osos, 80-67. Rancho Cucamonga defeated Upland, 67-64.

Bryce Hamilton scored 28 points as Pasadena defeated Crescenta Valley, 81-62.

Flintridge Prep defeated Rio Hondo, 76-40. Jake Althouse had 20 points and Kendall Kikkawa added nine assists.

In the Foothill League, Whitten Dominguez scored 26 points in Hart’s 57-48 win over Saugus. West Ranch defeated Valencia, 54-35. Golden Valley defeated Canyon, 73-55.

In the City Section, Birmingham defeated Cleveland, 103-44. Mark Boland, Devante Doutrive and Deshon Winston each scored 16 points. El Camino Real defeated Granada Hills, 45-37. Kobe White had 16 points. Taft defeated Chatsworth, 76-48.

In the Western League, Palisades defeated University, 58-53. Dayne Downey led the Dolphins with 16 points. Jude Agbasi scored 29 points for University. Westchester defeated Hamilton, 73-33. Harold Moore had 18 points.

In the Marine League, Antonio Moore and Jeremiah Galang each scored 13 points in Narbonne’s 79-51 win over King-Drew.

Poly completed a sweep over North Hollywood with a 51-41 victory.

Kennedy upset Van Nuys, 72-68. Tyree Winborn had 22 points but was ejected for two technical fouls. Sylmar defeated San Fernando, 80-77, with Dayquan Williams scoring 29 points.

South Gate improved to 7-0 in the Eastern League with a 57-47 win over Huntington Park. David Mixon scored 12 points.

Chino Hills rolls to its 57th consecutive victory.
