Armed suspect arrested after manhunt in Pico Rivera, deputies say
Deputies arrested an armed suspect after a special weapons team searched for three-hours Saturday morning around Rio Hondo Park in Pico Rivera, authorities said.
Daniel Gonzales, 24, was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, possession of methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a handgun, said Sgt. J. Vasquez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responding to a report of a fight in the 4700 block of Orange Street saw a man with a gun running from a vehicle, Vasquez said. Deputies sealed off the area and searched for the man with the assistance of a canine unit. Montebello police also aided in the search.
Gonzales was found in a backyard in the 8200 block of San Luis Potosi Place around 7:30 a.m.
Vasquez said Gonzales was transported to Beverly Hospital in Montebello for treatment of a possible dog bite injury sustained during the search.
It was unclear if anyone had been injured in the earlier fight. Vasquez said deputies had not been able to locate any victims.
