Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Hawthorne, Nevada
A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Tuesday evening 44 miles from Hawthorne, Nevada, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:28 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 107 miles from Gardnerville Ranchos, Nevada, 119 miles from Carson City, Nevada, 119 miles from South Lake Tahoe, California and 120 miles from Clovis, California.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
