Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Ridgemark, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon eight miles from Ridgemark, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:44 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 17 miles from Salinas, Calif.

In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
