A suspected burglar was shot and wounded by Los Angeles police in West Hills early Sunday morning after he pointed a gun at officers responding to a prowler call, officials said.
The man was taken to a hospital and his condition was not immediately known, said Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department. No officers were hurt in the shooting, which occurred at 5:35 a.m. in the 7100 block of Woodlake Avenue, Joseph said.
An LAPD source said the suspect was shot at the top of an outside staircase. No other information, including the identities of the wounded man and the officers, was available.
