Fatal crash on 110 Freeway near downtown causes small roadside fire
A fatal single-car crash on the northbound 110 Freeway caused a small roadside fire early Tuesday that clogged traffic through downtown for the morning commute, authorities said.
The incident in Elysian Park occurred shortly before 7 a.m. One person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Flames from the crash spread to a 20-foot-by-20-foot area of vegetation but were quickly put out.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation and the identity of the driver was not immediately available.
