Earthquake: 5.5 quake strikes off Northern California coast
A magnitude 5.5 earthquake was reported Thursday evening 140 miles west of Eureka, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor occurred at 6:34 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 295 miles northwest of San Francisco.
There was no tsunami danger, according to the National Tsunami Warning Center.
