Storm drops more than half an inch of rain across L.A. area
More than a half-inch of rain fell in communities across Los Angeles County on Monday as a late-season storm moved across the region.
The wet weather is the result of a low-pressure system off the California coast. The system is expected to bring cooler temperatures and showery and windy conditions at least through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
By Monday evening, downtown Los Angeles and Los Angeles International Airport each recorded 0.70 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
In the San Fernando Valley, Northridge topped out with 0.68 inches of rain. La Verne, in the San Gabriel Valley, had 0.63 inches, the Weather Service said. Opids Camp, about 3,500 feet above Pasadena in the Angeles National Forest, had 1.10 inches of rain.
Rainfall totals in Orange County included a reading of 0.45 inches at Yorba Linda and 0.50 inches at Oceanside Airport.
Gusty south to southwest winds are expected Monday night through Tuesday morning, and a dusting of snow could be possible above 7,000 feet, the Weather Service said.
