Police hunt for suspect in UC Riverside kidnapping case
Police are looking for a man who they said briefly kidnapped and bound a UC Riverside student before dropping her off at a parking garage.
The student was inside the University Village Towers parking garage about 4:17 p.m. Sunday when a man suddenly grabbed her and forced her into his vehicle, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Police said he tied up the student and drove her around before he returned to the parking garage in the 3800 block of Iowa Avenue and dropped her off.
The student was not sexually assaulted or robbed, and authorities don’t know why he kidnapped her, said police Lt. Christian Dinco.
“The victim kept her cool,” Dinco said. “I think that helped her.”
Police described the suspect in the case as a being in his late 20s to early 30s, with medium-length dirty blond hair. He wore black clothing and drove a 2009 or newer gray four-door Nissan Sentra, authorities said.
Anyone with details about the incident is urged to call Riverside police detectives Rick Wheeler at (951) 353-7134 or Rick Cobb at (951) 353-7135.
