Dean of USC’s Keck School of Medicine steps down
The dean of USC’s Keck School of Medicine has stepped down.
Carmen Puliafito decided to resign last week, according to a March 24 memo by Michael Quick, USC’s provost. Puliafito has served as dean since 2007 and previously was the director of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and chairman of the ophthalmology department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He will remain on staff at USC.
Puliafito has been replaced on an interim basis by Rohit Varma, the current chair of the ophthalmology department at Keck.
The school will form a committee to search for a permanent dean shortly, according to Quick.
