Ex-Marine is accused of conning others
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A former Marine has been arrested on suspicion of committing credit card fraud and identity theft by convincing Marines and sailors that he was a recruiter who needed their help, police said Tuesday.
Jaton Aguon, 26, who left the Corps in 2004, is being held in the downtown jail.
In one case, police said, Aguon wore a Marine uniform and bilked an elderly woman out of money by saying his wife had been killed in Iraq and his daughter was terminally ill.
