Montrose flood

The Montrose flood roared through the little community early on New Year’s Day 1934, taking at least 45 lives, destroying about 100 homes and leaving behind a mud-filled, barren landscape. These photographs show the aftermath: half-buried cars, houses and businesses askew in the mess.
