Man who fled sex abuse charges to return to U.S.
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A man who fled the United States to avoid being tried on molestation charges will be brought back to Orange County today after being arrested while re-entering the country on a flight from Bolivia, authorities said Wednesday.
Jerry Espada, 45, formerly of Dana Point, is accused of sexually assaulting his live-in girlfriend’s daughter for a decade starting in 1990 when she was 5.
After attending every court hearing on the charges, he failed to appear for trial June 25.
Espada was arrested in Miami while passing through airport customs Sept. 6.
