2 Palestinian Gunmen Slain by Israelis
MORAG, Gaza Strip — Israeli troops killed two Palestinian gunmen in separate clashes, army and militant sources said.
In the first incident, troops killed one gunman and wounded another as the two attacked this Jewish settlement Wednesday.
Claiming responsibility, the Islamic Jihad militant group said it also fired mortar rounds at the settlement. There were no Israeli casualties. The wounded gunman managed to get to a Palestinian hospital, the group said.
In the second clash, soldiers killed a militant today outside the West Bank city of Nablus.
Israeli military sources said troops killed a gunman in Balata refugee camp who was trying to attack Jewish worshipers en route to a nearby shrine.
Sources in Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an armed spinoff of the Palestinian group Fatah, described the militant as a 16-year-old comrade.
