How the Dodgers won their fifth straight division title

This has been no ordinary season for the Dodgers. After racing out to the best record in baseball, a late collapse meant they took until late September to lock down the N.L. West.

After the first few weeks of the season, the Dodgers were in third place and five games behind the Rockies, who led the division for much of the first half.

Things started to turn around in late May with a pair of six-game winning streaks. But the Dodgers really took off a couple of weeks later, beginning June 16 a historic stretch that included winning streaks reaching 9, 10 and 11 games.

After growing their division lead to 21 games, the Dodgers' fortunes turned. They began their worst stretch of the season, losing 16 of 17 games, including 11 in a row during September.

Despite those struggles, the Dodgers clinched a fifth consecutive NL West title and are on track to post one of the franchise's winningest seasons.
