Costumed dodgeball tournament raises $13,000 for Laguna schools

SchoolPower’s seventh annual Dodgeball Tournament on Wednesday raised about $13,000 for the Laguna Beach Unified School District, according to a news release.

Sixty-two teams of costumed students and adults, including teachers from all four district schools and Laguna Beach police and firefighters, participated in the event at Laguna Beach High School.

Prizes were given to first-place teams in each division and for best costume. Winning teams earned $500 to designate to a district teacher or school program of their choice.

Champions in each division were Beach Babes, fourth and fifth grades; Lucky Leprechauns, sixth to eighth grades; and Base-Ballers, adult. Awards for best costume went to the Tutu Toddlers, Team Barbie and Kim-O’s Clowns.
