H.B.’s consideration of ban on recreational marijuana businesses to continue July 25
The Huntington Beach Planning Commission held a preliminary discussion Tuesday night on a zoning amendment that would prohibit the local sale or distribution of non-medical marijuana by commercial businesses.
Commissioners spent the session submitting questions of clarification to city staff that will be answered during a public hearing on the issue July 25.
Proposition 64 was passed statewide in November, allowing people 21 and older to use and cultivate non-medical marijuana, with stipulations granting local governments the ability to ban non-medical marijuana businesses and regulate cultivation.
The zoning amendment also would regulate the cultivation of non-medical marijuana.
