Glendale firefighters extinguished a garage fire early Sunday morning that resulted in an estimated $30,000 in structural damage and about $15,000 in damage to contents, fire officials said.

Fire personnel were dispatched at 1:40 a.m. to a reported house fire at 1971 E. Glenoaks Blvd., according to Glendale Fire spokeswoman Brandy Villanueva.

When they arrived, they found a single-family house with smoking coming from the rear of the structure. They then found a detached garage that was fully engulfed in flames, Villanueva said.

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding structures and were able to contain the fire within the garage, according to Villanueva. The blaze was knocked down at 2:03 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
