Dodgers-Padres suspensions: Carlos Quentin 8 games, Matt Kemp none
San Diego Padres outfielder Carlos Quentin, who broke the collarbone of Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke in an on-field fight Thursday night in San Diego, has been suspended for eight games.
Dodgers utility player Jerry Hairston Jr. was suspended for one game.
Quentin was suspended for “his actions, which included charging the mound and inciting the bench-clearing incident,” according to a statement from Major League Baseball.
Neither of the other two players to get ejected -- Greinke and Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp -- were suspended. Kemp and Quentin also had a verbal confrontation in the Petco Park hallway after the game.
Quentin and Hairston are appealing their suspensions. Barring an unusually fast appeal hearing, Quentin will be eligible to play when the Dodgers and Padres begin a three-game series Monday at Dodger Stadium.
Greinke is scheduled for surgery Saturday and is expected to miss about two months.
