That Tuxedo the Groom Is Wearing Is Horrrrible

Kim Ford, 29, of Aliso Viejo and Drew Cox, 29, of Laguna Niguel were planning to get married Oct. 8 in Orange County. But they entered a contest created by ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike in the Morning” show and are now among the finalists to win an all-expenses-paid wedding May 26 at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn.

Although neither Ford nor Cox attended the school, both are die-hard UCLA fans. They told ESPN that if they win, the person they would want to attend their wedding more than any other is John Wooden. They were asked, if that weren’t possible, would Bill Walton suffice?

“As long as he doesn’t talk too much,” Cox said he told ESPN.

Replied Crawford: “That’s the only thing you’ll get right all night.”

Looking back: On this day in 1955, San Francisco won the first of its two consecutive NCAA basketball titles by defeating La Salle, 77-63, at Kansas City, Mo.

Trivia answer: The U.S. Olympic team. The game was considered an exhibition, but San Francisco lost its next game as well -- to Illinois.

And finally: Noting that New York Knick Coach Larry Brown said, “I never left a team in worse shape than I got it,” Randy Hill of Foxsports.com concluded: “This should be recorded as proof that Brown does not intend to leave the Knicks after this season.”
