LeBron James says he’ll switch back to No. 23 with Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James has returned to Cleveland and now he's going back to his old number: 23.

James switched to No. 6 when he joined the Miami Heat in 2010, where he won two NBA titles after spurning his hometown for South Beach to form the "Big 3" with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. James had worn the number 23 dating back to his high school days at St. Vincent-St. Mary's in Akron, Ohio.

At the time of his switch to No. 6, James lobbied for the league-wide retirement of No. 23 in honor of Michael Jordan.

"I feel like no NBA player should wear 23," James said then. "I'm starting a petition, and I've got to get everyone in the NBA to sign it. Now, if I'm not going to wear No. 23, then nobody else should be able to wear it."

That doesn't appear to be the case any longer.

Soon after announcing his return to the Cavaliers, James tweeted a link to an Instagram photo of himself wearing the No. 6 and No. 23 in Cavaliers uniforms and asked his followers, "6 or 23?"

James announced his decision Sunday in the same fashion.
