Olympic ticket sales hit a glitch in U.S.
A day after the U.S. Olympic Committee announced the release of more tickets for American fans wanting to attend the 2016 Summer Games, the provider postponed sales Tuesday because of an “unforeseen technical issue.”
CoSport said no alternative date for the sales has yet been scheduled.
“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience as we resolve the technical issues,” the company posted on its website.
The new round of sales -- scheduled to begin Tuesday morning -- was to include tickets left over from the initial phase.
Officials said the Rio de Janeiro Games were generating as much demand as previous Summer Olympics in London and Beijing. Track and field, swimming, beach volleyball and artistic gymnastics ranked among the most popular sports.
