Tim Tebow is a good guy. We already knew that. But just in case we needed any reminders, he provided plenty during his introductory press conference as the New York Jets’ new backup quarterback Monday at the team field house in Florham Park, N.J.

He went out of his way to downplay any conflict with starting quarterback Mark Sanchez, who fell from grace with the New York fans after a rough season last year.

“Me and Mark have a great relationship,” Tebow said. “We’ve been friends the past three years and have already texted back and forth. We are going to have a great working relationship and I think we’ll have a lot of fun together.”

He also made sure to mention he has no hard feelings toward the Denver Broncos, the team he led on a remarkable run into the second round of the playoffs but which traded him to the Jets after picking up free agent quarterback Peyton Manning.

“There’s no ill will to the Broncos, their coaching staff, Peyton Manning or anybody,” Tebow said. “I’m always gonna root for those guys because we went through a lot together.

“We’ll have a lot of great memories for a long time from last season.”

Even left to fend for himself in front of the New York media for the first time -- Coach Rex Ryan, General Manager Mike Tannenbaum and owner Woody Johnson were at the NFL meetings in Palm Beach, Fla. -- Tebow handled the situation with class and humility.

“I’m so honored and humble to be a Jet,” he said. “I’m so thankful they wanted me.”

Not that we expected anything different. After all, he is a good guy.
