‘Here Comes the Champ’ plays as Floyd Mayweather Jr. celebrates his 38th birthday
Reporting from Las Vegas — Las Vegas nearly exploded last week with news that the boxing match of the century is on the books. Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. takes on Manny Pacquiao May 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
So how did the five-division world champion spend his birthday in Las Vegas? With a party at Hyde Bellagio.
Mayweather Jr. turned 38 on Tuesday, Mar. 24, and headed to the nightclub for the Lost Angels industry night with friends. His entourage, dubbed The Money Team, included professional basketball player Metta World Peace.
DJ Konflikt blasted the song “The Champ is Here” as he made his way into the club. Servers created a parade of lights and giant letters spelling out “M-O-N-E-Y.”
Mayweather didn’t drink any alcohol but did imbibe on a Coca-Cola. He was presented with a decorative bottle of Martinelli’s Apple Cider for his birthday.
