‘Gimme the Loot,’ Adam Leon’s tale of two teenage graffiti artists in the Bronx, won the grand jury prize for narrative feature at the South by Southwest film festival, organizers announced Tuesday.
‘Beware of Mr. Baker,’ Jay Bulger’s examination of how Cream and Blind Faith drummer Ginger Baker survived 50-plus years of drug abuse, took home the top prize in the documentary category.
Special jury awards for performance went to Jamie Chung in ‘Eden,’ 85-year-old Besedka Johnson in ‘Starlet’ and Nico Stone in ‘Booster.’
The festival in Austin, Texas, hosted a total of 132 features and 138 shorts this year, culled from more than 5,300 submissions.
