Target is marching on with its designer collaborations this fall with Poketo, a design, art and home-wares company based in L.A.
The 7-year-old company, which specializes in infusing art into everyday objects (I have a set of illustrated Poketo melamine dinner plates that always knock dinner guests out), will debut its Target collection on Aug. 10.
The company was founded by husband-and-wife duo Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung, who collaborate with more than 200 international artists for their signature collection. The Target launch marks its first biggie mass-market collaboration.
Poketo’s colorful diffusion line -- which will be priced from $4.99 to $29.99 -- will feature totes, messenger bags, laptop cases, water bottles, umbrellas, wallets and shopping bags printed with various fine-art-style graphics, including artsy birch trees and a kaleidoscopic geometric print.
“Making art that goes beyond the traditional gallery space is exciting to most artists because it has the possibility of reaching the widest audience,” Myung said.
Photos from the line are being kept under wraps until its Aug. 10 launch (except for a few teaser photos, like the one above), but will be viewable that day at poketo.com/target.
