Will a dress that makes phone calls get good reception?

Think clothing-as-communication tools went out with Maxwell Smart’s shoe phone? This year alone we’ve seen, Katy Perry’s Met Gala Lite-Brite dress (handy for sailors lost at sea) and Imogen Heap’s Twitter necklace at the Grammys. And before these, there was that dress that lit up when you received a call.

But those are so ... shall we say ... obvious? For the girl on the go who doesn’t want to get bogged down with excess accessories, social media news site Mashable.com and eco-fashion website ECouterre.com point out that CuteCircuit.com, the manufacturers of Perry’s more than 3,000 LED-laden gown, are at it again with a cellphone capable little black dress.

According to the information from the company’s website, the soon-to-be-available M-Dress ‘is an elegant silk jersey dress that is also a functional soft electronics mobile phone. The M-Dress accepts a standard SIM card and allows the wearer to receive and make calls without carrying a cellular phone in their pocket or purse.’

The dress is said to be out in 2011 and there is no word on the price ... or if that would include texting and roaming.
