Fashion News: Formichetti bombs with critics, despite Lady Gaga

As promised, creative director Nicola Formichetti started Mugler’s Paris Fashion Week show with a short video of his muse Lady Gaga. But the lady herself didn’t make an appearance, leaving some attendees to focus only on the quality of what they saw walking down the runway. And apparently they were not amused. ‘No new trends there,’ the Wall Street Journal’s Christina Binkley tweeted. Indeed, from the looks of the picture above, things seemed rather bland. Speaking of ‘ANTM,’ Vogue editor at large Andre Leon Talley announced that he is leaving the show’s judging panel as of the next cycle, starting early next year. He will be replaced by Kelly Cutrone. [People]

Alas. If it sounds too good to be true, it might be too good to be true. Reebok has agreed to pay $25 million in refunds to consumers to settle allegations by the Federal Trade Commission that the company falsely claimed that its toning shoes and other products strengthened muscles, making for svelte legs and butts in record time. The settlement covers EasyTone walking shoes, RunTone running shoes and EasyTone flip flops. [Los Angeles Times]

Phil Gala dressed in blue, matching their gowns to the ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ theme of the evening, which started with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s all-Gershwin program. Galaxy star David Beckham says he designed his new men’s fragrance Homme with wife Victoria in mind, since the scent is “something that she has to put up with being on me.” I’m not sure ‘has to put up with’ is a good phrase to use to promote a new product. In any event, he says the fragrance -- a mix of citrus, wood and peppery notes -- passed the smell test when he tried it out on his three sons. [People]
