Marine Lance Cpl. Ruth Anderson knew weeks in advance that her unit at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego was deploying to Iraq. It was a daily topic of discussion with her mother, Kymber Anderson, a civilian employee at the base.
Now the daughter is stationed at Al Asad and the mother is working at the PX at Camp Fallouja. The latter volunteered for the duty.
