The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is $3,000 richer, and lots of Angelenos are a few pounds heavier after the weekend’s ‘Eat My Blog’ bake sale.
‘They came, they bought and we got their money, and that’s what we wanted,’ said Cathy Danh, who blogs at gastronomy and who organized the sale, held Saturday outside Zeke’s Smokehhouse at La Brea and Santa Monica boulevards.
‘We pretty much sold out in the first 2 1/2 hours,’ Danh said this morning. ‘We were sitting inside Zeke’s counting up the money.’
In fact, the sale went so smoothly that another one is planned for the summer of 2010, also to benefit the food bank.
Forty bakers took part in the sale, and no complaints have been registered. Among the bakers was Molly Chester, a personal chef who made her own cream cheese and milled the flour for her cakes, Danh said.
