Cupcake lovers are heading off to camp: Cupcake Camp LA.
Part fund-raiser, part bake-off and mostly just a really good excuse to eat cupcakes, Cupcake Camp LA comes to the Music Box Theater in Hollywood Saturday to showcase the work of commercial and amateur bakers.
You’ll get to vote for your favorite cupcake. In addition to good ‘ol fashion cupcakes, there will also be holiday-themed and wedding cupcakes unveiled during the day’s two tasting sessions. One will be held from noon to 2 p.m., the other from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 apiece and include five tasting coupons. Tickets for younger than five are $5 apiece and include three tasting coupons, and there will be a special area for kids to try their hand at decorating cupcakes.
Chocoholics take note: Sponsor Scharffen Berger will also be on hand with free cupcakes and chocolate samples, no tasting tickets needed. Click here for more ticket information. And for those of you who cannot stand to peel yourself away from college football -- even for cupcakes -- there will be a college football viewing lounge. Produced by BakeSpace.com, the event benefits InvisiblePeople.tv, which uses social media to connect the homeless with support services, as well as Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue and the American Tortoise Rescue.
And consider this fair warning: If we happen to run into each other on Saturday, don’t stand in between me and the cupcakes. Especially any red velvet cupcakes.
[Updated 1:52 p.m.: An earlier version of this post misspelled the name of chocolate maker Scharffen Berger]
